Eid Milad-un-Nabi being celebrated

Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad is being celebrated with religious fervour in India on Sunday today. "Milaad Mehfils" and "Seerat Conferences" are being held highlighting the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad. Milad processions are also being organised to mark the occasion. Prayer meetings are organised and mosques are decorated.Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the occasion. On Eid Milad-Un-Nabi, Muslim remember the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad and  read Quran.
President Droupadi Murmu has greeted the nation on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad or Milad-un-Nabi. In her message on the eve of Milad-un-Nabi, the President said Prophet Muhammad gave the message of kindness, simplicity and service to humanity to the world. She said his message inspires everyone to move forward on the path of harmony and fraternity. She hoped that peopel get inspired by the life of Hazrat Muhammad and take the pledge to continue striving for the progress of the country by living in mutual harmony. In his message, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar hoped that the eternal message of the Holy Prophet instill virtues of piety, empathy and universal brotherhood in the people and guide humanity on a righteous path of compassion, universal peace and harmony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, may this occasion further the spirit of peace, togetherness and compassion in the society.

Eid-e-Milad: is observed on Rabi'al-awwal, the third month of Islamic calendar by Muslims all over the world. Also known as Eid-e-Milad or Mawlid, the occasion marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, founder of Islam and believed to be a messenger of God by Muslims. Islam's sacred scripture. Prophet Muhammad was born in 570 AD in Mecca and died in 632 AD in Medina. The festival is celebrated on different days by Shia and Sunni communities. While Sunni Muslims observe it on the 12th of the Islamic month of Rabi al-Awwal, Shia Muslims do it on the 17th of Rabi al-Awwal. Eid-e-Milad is also believed to be the death anniversary of the Prophet and is thus mourned by some Muslims.
