Leaders of several opposition parties on Monday stressed unity within the INDIA bloc and called for the need to safeguard democratic values and address issues related to people's livelihood as a key meeting of the grouping held in new Delhi on Monday. Several top leaders of the opposition alliance met here at the Constitution Club in the backdrop of differences emerging among some of its constituents. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said a total of 25 parties met for the Opposition alliance meeting in Delhi and took 5 five key decisions. The alliance group has decided to meet more often now, and the next meeting will be held in Hyderabad in August. Kharge said the INDIA bloc has decided to write to the Chief Justice of India over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), alleging "vote loot" and electoral malpractice. Addressing a media briefing after a high-profile meeting of the Opposition alliance partners in New Delhi, Kharge said a consensus was reached to send a letter to the Chief Justice at the earliest.Kharge also said the INDIA bloc had unanimously resolved to seek the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister over alleged irregularities affecting students who appeared for NEET and CBSE examinations.Union govt should immediately call an all party meeting to discuss the precarious economic situation, farmers issues and other people's issues. Opposition leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge of the Congress, Mamata Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress, Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party, Tejashwi Yadav of RJD, Omar Abdullah of National Conference and Mehbooba Mufti of PDP, besides Left leaders attended the meeting.However, DMK and Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) skipped the meeting. The DMK had last week announced their decision to not attend the meeting, as it cited Congress's post-poll alliance with the TVK in Tamil Nadu
