Six Naxals killed in encounter along Chhattisgarh-Telangana border

At least six Maoists including four women killed in an “exchange of fire” between Telangana state Greyhounds special party and Maoists at Doraguda, near Pesarlapadu police Station of Kistaran in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh adjoining Telangana’s Cherla Mandal. Police informed that the incident occurred early this morning. However, the outlawed outfit’s Charla area militia commander is believed to be among the dead. Joint teams of Telangana’s special party police and the CRPF personnel have been combing the forest areas along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border for the past few days as part of intensive anti-Maoist operations. Search operation in the area is still going on. The interstate joint operation was carried out by the Greyhounds forces from Telangana and assisted by Chhattisgarh’s DRG and the CRPF forces.

As per reports, bodies of six ultras were recovered from the spot. Sukma S P Sunil Sharma claimed security forces inflicted a heavy blow to the Kistaram area committee of Maoists, which had been instrumental in carrying out various deadly attacks in the past. There are total five area committees of Maoists operating in Sukma. In the last six months, security forces have been successful in effectively controlling the activities of the Kerlapal and Konta area committees, Sharma said. According to Bastar IG P Sundarraj, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence. “The main action was with the Telangana forces and our men from CRPF and DRG provided support in the Kistaram area,” he said.
