Chhattisgarh: 44 Naxals surrender in Sukma district

In Chhattisgarh, 44 Naxals including nine women cadres surrendered in Sukma district on the first day of 2022. They were active in Chintalnar, Kistaram, and Bheji areas of the district. Sukma SP Sunil Sharma said, the Naxals surrendered before the police at the newly-set up police camp in Karigundam village. One of the surrendered Naxals - Madkam Dula was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head. Others were members of naxals' militia or the Chetna Natya Mandli, a cultural wing of Maoists, Sharma said.

The surrendered cadres said they are disappointed with the hollow Maoist ideology and impressed by the district police's rehabilitation drive for Naxals, called 'Puna Narkom'. Puna Narkom, a Gondi word, means a new dawn. The surrendered Naxals will be provided with facilities as per the Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy of the Chhattisgarh government.
