Parliamentarians led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday paid tributes to first President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad on his Birth Anniversary at the Central Hall of Parliament. Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Dr Jitendra Singh, Ministers of State for Jal Shakti Prahalad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti along with the present and former members of Parliament and officials paid floral tributes at the portrait of Dr. Prasad at the Central Hall.
-NITI Aayog reviewed and discussed the mission of Coal India Limited to produce one billion tonnes of coal by 2025-26. Commerce and Industry Ministry said the meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant. The Ministry said, coal remains the primary domestic fuel for India as well as the single largest commodity transported across the country. It said, the mining, supply, and consumption of coal are central to the growth of the Indian economy. The Ministry said, PM Gati Shakti Mission will reduce the logistics cost for coal evacuation.
-In Tripura, Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh along with Minister of State Faggan Singh Kulaste on Friday inaugurated the National Generic Document Registration System and Banadhikar mobile application through virtual mode. Addressing the function, the Union Minister said, Tripura’s potentials for growth in the primary sectors like agriculture and other allied sectors are visible and in the last three and half years a lot of work has been done in this regard. He said that land registration and land rights are some of the key areas that need to be addressed at the earliest and this is why, the scheme has been rolled out across the country. Singh said, Tripura has also benefited from the programme. He has been told that 1.3 lakh tribal people who are going to get forest Patta lands under the Banadhikar mobile application will get a uniform map of their land. When they realize that this land belongs to them a sense of encouragement for proper utilization of the land will come. The Union Minister advised Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to explore innovative avenues for the development of horticultural crops in the forest lands. He batted for banana-based industries by SHG groups while using forest Patta lands for growing horticultural goods that are suitable for the land. The Union Minister also told the present Ministers and higher officials to tap the opportunity of business through active bamboo charcoal due to the abundant availability of raw materials in the state.
-Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Earth Station of Doordarshan Kendra in Gorakhpur Friday. Three FM stations of All India Radio in Etawah, Lakhimpur Kheri and Bahraich districts were also inaugurated at this juncture virtually. Speaking on this occasion, Thakur said that with the inauguration of Earth Station at Doordarshan Kendra, now the local programmes originating from Gorakhpur will reach all over the country. He also announced that a one-hour programme in Bhojpuri will be telecast from Gorakhpur Doordarshan Kendra with effect from December 11. The Minister said, taking cognizance of the growing trend of the listenership of FM Radio in the country, the government has decided to give it a boost. He said that soon three more FM stations will be opened in Sultanpur, Rampur, and Maharajganj districts of Uttar Pradesh. Thakur also said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has eliminated mafias from Uttar Pradesh and the law and order situation has improved immensely. He praised the efforts of the State Government in tackling the COVID pandemic. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, with the inauguration of Earth Station at Gorakhpur, the four-year-old demand of the local artists has been fulfilled. He also thanked the Information and Broadcasting Minister for his commitment to open more FM stations.
-Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba chaired the second meeting of the National Crisis Management Committee, NCMC in New Delhi, and reviewed the preparedness of States and Central Ministries and Agencies to deal with the Cyclonic Storm Jawad on Friday. India Meteorological Department, IMD has stated that the Cyclone is expected to reach the North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast by Saturday morning. Thereafter, it will recurve and move towards the West Bengal coast. The cyclone would bring with it heavy to very heavy rainfall. Wind speeds ranging up to 90 to 100 kilometers per hour accompanied by tidal waves are expected. Chief Secretaries and senior officers of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands apprised the NCMC of preparatory measures taken by them. It was informed that all efforts are underway to ensure the safe return of fishermen from the sea. Cyclone shelters have been readied and evacuation of people from low-lying areas is being carried out. All actions have been taken to stock food grains, drinking water, and other essential supplies. Teams for maintenance and restoration of power, roads, water supply, and other essential services have also been positioned. Harvesting of standing crops is also being done to minimize damages.The NDRF has deployed an adequate number of teams in the states that would be affected and additional teams are on standby. Rescue and relief teams of the Army and Navy along with ships and aircraft are ready for deployment as required.
