The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday appointed Union minister Harsh Malhotra as the new president of its Delhi unit, replacing Virendra Sachdeva, as part of a broader organisational reshuffle announced by the party leadership.The appointment was made by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, according to party notifications issued on Thursday.

Alongside the Delhi appointment, the BJP also named new state presidents for Haryana, Punjab and Tripura in a move aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational structure ahead of upcoming political engagements.According to information,Archana Gupta was appointed president of the BJP’s Haryana unit, while senior leader Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon was named the new Punjab BJP chief. In Tripura, BJP MLA Abhishek Debroy was appointed president of the party’s state unit.The appointments came into immediate effect, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said in separate notifications issued by the party. Harsh Malhotra, a first-time Member of Parliament from East Delhi is currently serving as Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.A longtime BJP leader from Delhi, he has earlier served as Mayor of the erstwhile East Delhi Municipal Corporation and held several organisational responsibilities within the party.Known for his strong grassroots connect in East Delhi, Malhotra played an active role in the BJP’s campaign during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
