Working with Saurabh Shukla in 'Dry Day' is like going to acting school : Kiran Khoje

Actress Kiran Khoje who has been part of some great films like Talvar, Hindi Medium and Super 30 is currently being seen in Saurabh Shukla’s film Dry Day on Prime Video. This is also Kiran’s OTT debut and here she shares her journey with the film. “Last year, I got a call from casting director Kavish Sinha for an audition. I went for the audition and after 1.5 months when I did not get a call back, I somehow forgot about it. But one fine day, I got a call saying that I was selected for the film. I remember I met Saurabh Shukla Sir and the cast for the first time during the reading session for the film. And then went to Bhopal for a 45-day schedule in which I had worked for 15 days.”
Discussing more about her role in Dry Day Kiran says, "I am playing a character called Janki in the film who is a kind of a catalyst. We all stay in a fictitious village where all men have a problem with drinking. Janki is someone who is obviously very upset with this problem and, like others, my character believes men should get rid from their drinking habits. Though I have been part of some great films before, I have a full fledged role in this film. Janki has a character arc in Dry Day which I love as an artist. Being a Maharashtrian, my Hindi is good but in Dry Day I had to speak a language local to Madhya Pradesh so I took help from our associate director Anil Choudhury and the captain of our ship Saurabh Shukla.”
Kiran feels working under the guidance of Saurabh Shukla is the best thing that has happened to her career. She says, ”Working under writer director Saurabh Shukla In Dry Day is like going to acting school. He is brilliant on set, the way the world knows him is a very happy go lucky and jolly person -- he is exactly the same on the set as well. The most rewarding factor for me was I always went to the set with a happy mood. That’s a big thing for any actor. The film has some 250-300 junior artists and the crew is managing them so well. Directing was also a huge task but Saurabh Sir did with so much expertise. Also working with actors like Jitendra Kumar, Shriya Pilgaunkar, Annu Kapoor and rest of the cast is such an honour. Recently, when we met during the premiere of the film, we all had so much fun and were reminiscing about our shooting schedule in Bhopal.”
Kiran who made her OTT debut with Dry Day feels that OTT platforms have huge scope for all the actors, technicians and that’s the reason there is demand. She adds, "Dry Day is not preachy yet the film has a very important message. There is a strong relatability with all the characters and the situations."

Aadesh Chaudhary talks about his new year resolutions

Actor Aadesh Chaudhary who has been part of shows like Diya Aur Baati Hum, Doli Armaanon Ki, Laal Ishq and Maitree says that he wants to make a promise of a healthy lifestyle this New Year. He wishes to include meditation and daily walks into his day.“My New Year's resolution is to wake up at a positive auspicious time in the morning and incorporate a routine of meditation and walking into my day. That's my resolution for this year. I've learned a lot in 2023, especially about how people behave when you're successful or not. There are many things, and I don't want to go into internal details, but I've gained valuable insights,” he says.
As far as the world events go this year, it has been sad. However, says that he doesn’t delve much into this. “Look, I don't really focus on negative news, but regarding Bollywood, I enjoyed watching Animal. I became a fan of it. As for Hamas, I prefer not to comment. The World Cup was a lot of fun, but I felt pretty disappointed after the final. Also, I recently watched a movie, and I must say, Ranbir Kapoor's acting was amazing. I really liked it; Bollywood seems to be doing well,” says the actor.
Talking about his bucket list for year 2024, he says, “In 2024, I'm working on some new ventures, especially aiming to grow on YouTube. My focus is on content related to OTT platforms, web, and films. It's the same routine for me—waiting for the right opportunity and role to come my way. That's where my focus lies.”

Mumbai has been ranked higher and more expensive than Sydney, Berlin and Toronto

Here's how celebrities share their viewpoints about the City of Dreams.
Monika Khanna:
If Mumbai is more expensive than Sydney and Berlin then I think those who are living a decent life here must be the richest. The people who are living in this city are already rich, right? But I feel we are not less than them. I love this city, although it's the place where I work, but I wish to be born in this city if I am fortunate enough to have another life after this. I feel very proud to say that this city has given me a lot and is taking care of me very beautifully. I am proud and I feel I am the richest when it comes to Sydney and Toronto. Sometimes we are very stressed due to work but at last, everything happens on its own. This city and the vibe it has, the strength of this city, that never lets us give up is fabulous. I don't think there's any other place like this city. No matter where we are, whether we are travelling or being stuck in traffic, the energy Mumbai gives you is fantastic. I stay out of this city and rejuvenate myself but I know I'll get back to this city. I'll always end up coming back to this city. I don't want to leave this city.
Anupama Solanki:
Sometimes my family asks me where my money is going and I feel helpless because they think "10 hazar ka rashan rakho aur 10 hazar kiraya" and done but my Mumbai is 10 times more expensive than they think. Income is the same from the last 3,4 years but expenses are increasing day by day. Job people cannot survive in Mumbai at any cost and the life we actors live is more expensive compared to other states. If you do not earn 4,5 lakh monthly in Mumbai then you will not save any money and mistakenly you have purchased a Car or Home in EMI then you cannot imagine. Sometimes I feel whatever my expenses are in Mumbai. What happens if I am in my hometown Chandigarh and my earning is equal to Mumbai's income then surely I can be the owner of some villa in Chandigarh and have beautiful luxury futuristic cars and a luxurious life.
Nikhil Nanda:
Mumbai is a very expensive place to stay. Real estate is one of the highest and most premium in the world, however, I feel for a person to eat, drink, and get the basics, there is a wide variety of options from very cheap to very expensive. So to that extent, Mumbai is at both extreme ends from very expensive to very cheap. Talking about the pros: It is a good city if you are looking for career growth or personal growth. You can achieve your goals with a focused approach. However, the cons are that social networks are very far away, and whatever is there is related to your work. So real time friends and real time social groups don't exist in Mumbai.
Mehul Vyas:
Mumbai is home to me, Being born and brought up here I consider myself lucky but I do acknowledge that it is very difficult to survive in Mumbai as it is very expensive. It is the survival of the fittest. Mumbai is always on its toes. Hustle and bustle is the law of the land. As discussed before, living in Mumbai is so expensive, One has to be thoroughly professional and work-oriented to afford a lifestyle in Mumbai. The fast-paced lifestyle can be exhilarating for some but stressful for others. Balancing work and personal life is crucial to managing the city's pace effectively.
Sneh Binny:
As a Mumbaikar, this ranking can be a source of mixed emotions. On a positive note, it reflects Mumbai's global stature and economic significance. On one hand, it evokes a sense of pride. On the other hand, the higher cost of living raises concerns regarding financial challenges and affordability for residents. So, the emotions are a blend of pride in Mumbai's global standing and awareness of the economic complexities that impact the everyday lives of those who call the city home.

Somy Ali Talks on New Year plans: It’s my busiest time with the cops, victims and the FBI

Somy Ali, who runs a US-based NGO called No More Tears, says that she is very busy during Christmas and New Year holidays. She says that this is the time when they get to help many victims.“I have spent the last 16 years, be it New Year’s or any holiday working with the victims. The holidays are the worst when it comes to human trafficking and domestic violence. Hence, as a victim advocate, it’s my busiest time with the cops, victims and the FBI,” she says.
She adds, “As for partying, I have never been one to enjoy loud places or tons of people speaking over each other with all being lost in the noise. I prefer working for my NGO or staying at home with a friend or two watching movies or just chatting about life in general. I have always been a hermit or call me a loner kind of personality. I prefer quality over quantity. The only party I have is one for my birthday because I request people to donate to No More Tears as opposed to giving me a gift. So, for me, peace is the way to go while others are out painting the town red. That’s another reason I was a total misfit in Bollywood. I don’t know nor do I want to suck up to people at parties which sadly is an integral part of being in the acting world or any profession which demands you show your face and praise people to get in their good books. It doesn’t make me a better person or make the people who enjoy being extroverted bad, but it’s just not my cup of tea. I have always been a homebody. I have a few places I like that aren’t noisy and I can converse with people like coffee shops or bookstores. The latter are slowly becoming a rarity given we have audibles and Kindle. Either way, my Christmas and New Year’s are pretty much spent working.”
Talking about New Year's resolution, she says, “As for a resolution, it is always to save more lives and make No More Tears grow. It’s selfish as it makes me feel good, yet helps others. It’s a win-win for all. To each their own. Some love going out while I love snuggling with my close friends chatting or if I am called in by the police department working. It’s all individual-specific and contingent upon a person's likes or dislikes.”
