Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), the chief minister's office said in a statement on Thursday. The chief minister's daughter Veena Vijayan and son-in-law PA Mohammed Riyas tested positive two days ago. Over the last few days, Vijayan extensively travelled across the state as part of the election campaign. Vijayan also made the announcement on social media.

On the other hand cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been discharged from the hospital and returned home on Thursday but will continue to stay in quarantine after contracting coronavirus.
