Initial trends from the counting of votes across four states and the Union Territory of Puducherry have largely held steady as rounds progressed through the day, indicating significant shifts in several key regions.The BJP has taken a surprise lead in West Bengal, emerging ahead in 192 of the 293 constituencies where counting is underway. The ruling TMC is trailing with leads in 94 seats.
In Tamil Nadu, actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has made a strong debut, leading in 112 of the 234 seats. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is in second position with 58 leads, while the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has slipped to third place with 47 seats. The Pattali Makkal Katchi is leading in five seats, while the Indian National Congress is ahead in four.

In Assam, the BJP is maintaining a strong lead, having won six seats and leading in 73 more. Its ally, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), has won one seat and is leading in eight. The Congress is ahead in 24 constituencies, while the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) is leading in 10.

In Kerala, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has secured a comfortable lead. The Congress has won six seats and is leading in 55 more, while the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) has won four and is ahead in 23 constituencies. Its allies — the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) — are leading in nine and three seats respectively. The Kerala Congress is ahead in seven seats, while the BJP is leading in two.

In Puducherry, results have begun to come in, with the NDA led by the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) maintaining an edge. Of the 13 declared results, AINRC has won eight seats and is leading in one more. The Congress has won one seat and is ahead in six, while the DMK has secured one win and is leading in three. The BJP has won two seats and is leading in two, the AIADMK has won one, and Independents have won two seats while leading in one.
