Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has directed the officials to take strict action against erring telemarketers and individuals involved in harassment of telecom subscribers. The method of harassment includes unsolicited commercial messages or calls. He observed that telecom resources are also being used to carry out financial frauds and dupe the common man of his hard-earned money. Clear directions were issued to the officials to take strict and tangible action to stop such activities immediately. . Prasad on Monday held a high level meeting in New Delhi to address the rising concern and irritation of consumers over Unsolicited Messages on mobile phones, repeated harassment through SMS, promising fraudulent loan transactions and above all to make digital transactions safe and secure. During the meeting, officials pointed out that even the subscribers registered in Do-Not Disturb service continue to receive commercial communication from Registered Tele-Marketers and further Unregistered Tele-Marketers are also sending commercial communication to the subscribers. The Minister directed the officials of the Department of Telecommunication to conduct a meeting with Telecom Service Providers and Tele-Marketers to apprise them of the seriousness of the issue and to ensure the compliance of laid down rules and procedures in this regard.
-BJP has finalized the names for the upcoming bye-election to the Rajya Sabha from Assam and biennial election to the State Legislative Council of Telangana. The party has decided to field Biswajit Daimari from Assam for bye election to the Rajya Sabha and N.Ramchander Rao and Gujjula Premender Reddy for biennial election to Telangana State Legislative Counci.
-External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishanker has said that good infrastructure is required to attract investment in Assam and the Centre is committed to the connectivity in the entire North East including Assam.Talking to news persons in Guwahati on Monday, he said that India and Japan are collaborating to enhance skill development, business and investment in a robust manner. The Minister said that the visit of the Japanese Ambassador Satoshi Suzuki to Assam reflects how the Indo-Japan partnership can make a difference in India and more specifically towards the development of Assam.Speaking on this occasion, the Japanese Ambassador said that both the countries are collaborating for the development of the Northeast zone with special focus on Assam. He further said that development of the North-Eastern Region is indispensable for India to become a five trillion economy.
-In Uttar Pradesh, the State Government has started a training programme for aspirants of various competitive examinations under 'Abhyudaya Yojana'. Under the scheme, free of cost training will be provided to the candidates who are preparing for various competitive examinations.While interacting with the candidates of the scheme through video conference at Lucknow on Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this training will open the doors of success and pave way for bright future of the young generation.More than five lakh candidates have done their registration and 50 thousand aspirants have been selected for training in the first phase.
-In Uttarakhand, search and rescue operations for the 25 to 35 people feared trapped inside the tunnel are still going on. Till Monday, 54 bodies have been recovered and around 150 people are missing even after eight days since the flash flood hit Raini village and Tapovan NTPC project in Chamoli district. Sixteen bodies have been recovered in the last 36 hours from the Raini and Tapovan area of Chamoli district. Nine bodies have been recovered so far from the tunnel at Tapovan and seven from Raini village.
