An American woman Victoria has called the US healthcare system a big scam. She revealed that a medicine would cost nearly $1000 (Rs 85,000) in US but was available to her at $25 (Rs 2,100 including shipping) through a manufacturer in India. In an Instagram post, the American stated that her health insurance provider refused to cover the medication and that she would have to pay a large amount out of pocket. Her doctor, while searching for alternative solutions, allegedly told her to procure it through Canadian pharmacies, which further source it from India. The medicine actually costs $10 and $15, as international shipping costs, according to the woman who questioned why the same drug costs hundreds of times more in the USA. She called the USA’s healthcare system a “scam”. She was advised by her doctor to approach a Canadian pharmacy, which would order the medicine directly from an Indian manufacturer.
Criticising the US healthcare system, she added: “Our healthcare system in the US is a joke. We are being completely scammed. What do you mean this was going to cost a thousand dollars? said common people in America were being 'completely scammed' by the healthcare system. She also questioned where all the extra money was going. "Our healthcare system in the U S is a joke. We are being completely scammed. What do you mean this was going to cost a thousand dollars? And I was able to pay $10 for the medication itself," she said.
