The border village of Moti Cher in Gujarat’s Kutch region echoed with the powerful strains of “Vande Mataram” on Thursday, as Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi led a group rendition of the national song along with soldiers to mark its 150th anniversary.The event, held at the border outpost in Lakhpat taluka, witnessed enthusiastic participation from Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, district officials, and local representatives. During the ceremony, Sanghvi and the gathered officials took an oath to adopt and promote “Swadeshi,” reaffirming India’s self-reliant spirit.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Sanghvi said “Vande Mataram” symbolizes the unity and pride of the nation and served as a rallying cry during India’s struggle for independence. “The national song reflects our shared sense of patriotism, sacrifice, and dedication. It kept the country united during the freedom movement,” he said.Sanghvi added that inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, celebrations are being organized across the nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram. “From the borders to the coastal areas, group renditions of Vande Mataram are being performed to celebrate the spirit of national unity,” he noted.

During the event, the Deputy Chief Minister also interacted with BSF soldiers, engaging in informal discussions over tea and expressing gratitude for their service at the nation’s frontiers.Among those present were Devjibhai Varchand, Range IG Chirag Kordiya, District Development Officer Utsav Gautam, Commandant Yogesh Kumar of the 176 BSF Battalion, along with other senior officers, staff members, police personnel, and BSF soldiers.The event concluded with a collective salute to the tricolour and resounding chants of “Vande Mataram,” reinforcing the message of unity, patriotism, and self-reliance.
