Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated an elevated corridor between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The 2.36-kilometer-long elevated corridor connecting Gota flyover and science city flyover has been completed at a cost of 170 crore rupees. It will further ease the traffic movement and reduce congestion between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was present on this occasion. The elevated corridor will directly benefit commuters using the SG (Sarkhej-Gandhinagar) Highway that falls under Shah's parliamentary constituency of Gandhinagar, by connecting it to four important road junctions, namely Sola Bhagwat, Kargil Petrol Pump, Janata Nagar and Zydus," a release from the state Chief Minister's Office said.
Out of the total 13 flyovers to be constructed as part of the project, seven had become functional. The elevated corridor is the eighth. The Gujarat Government has also planned to convert the 44-kilometer long National Highway from Sarkhej to Gandhinagar into a six-lane road with service roads on both sides. It will complete at a cost of 913 crore rupees.
