Varun Gandhi writes to PM Modi with list of demands

BJP MP Varun Gandhi has said that the Lakhimpur Kheri violence incident was a "blemish on our democracy". In his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Varun Gandhi said strict action must be taken against the those whose name had cropped up in connection with the matter. Gandhi has blamed “provocative” statements made by several senior party colleagues for instigating the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri that left five farmers dead. Gandhi welcome the announcement of the withdrawal of three Farm laws and also urged the PM to consider paying compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of the farmers who died during the year-long protest against the farm laws and sought a statutory guarantee of minimum support price for the farmers.

I welcome the announcement of the withdrawal of the 3 #FarmLaws. It is my humble request that the demand for a law on MSP & other issues must also be decided upon immediately, so our farmers can return home after ending their agitation.

“I believe if this decision has been taken earlier, all these innocent lives would not have been lost. It is my humble request to you that while expressing condolences to the families of the farmer brothers and sisters who were martyred in the movement, a compensation of Rs one crore each be announced for them,” he said in the letter.
