UPTET cancelled after paper leak,23 arrested

The UPTET- 2021 exam has been cancelled due to an alleged paper leak.The teachers’ eligibility test was scheduled to be held on Sunday. The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested 23 people on Saturday night using technical and other intelligence from different cities of the state, Additional Director General Law and Order Prashant Kumar said . The ADG said that those arrested included four from Lucknow, 13 from Prayagraj, three by the Meerut STF and one from Kaushambi district. Apart from UP, some people of Bihar have also been caught in this matter. Mobile phones and photocopy of question papers have been recovered from them. 

As per reports, the examination is expected to be conducted next month. The question paper was circulated on various Whatsapp groups at Mathura, Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr. More than 21 lakh candidates were going to appear in the exam that was scheduled to be held in more than 2500 centres in UP. The government cancelled the paper immediately after the news of the paper leak. It has further notified that candidates will not have to pay any fees again for the exam.  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the culprits will be booked under the National Security Act and Gangster Act. He said orders were given to transport the students back to their home towns in UPSRTC buses free of cost on the basis of their admit cards.
