Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh for the families of each victim from Maharashtra who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. The decision was taken during a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Fadnavis. on Tuesday in Mumbi. The government also assured educational and job support for victims’ families, including a government job for Asawari Jagdale, daughter of Santosh Jagdale who died in the attack. Six of the tourists who died in the Pahalgam terrorist attack were from Maharashtra. Fadnavis recently met all the families of the deceased and extended support to them. The six dead tourists from Maharashtra are- Hemant Satish Joshi, Thane, Atul Shrikant Mone- Mumbai, Sanjay Laxman Lele from Thane, Dilip Desale, Panvel, Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote from Pune.
The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved several key policies, including a new electric vehicle policy offering subsidies and toll waivers to promote EV adoption and expand charging infrastructure. A shipbuilding, maintenance, and recycling policy was also cleared, aimed at boosting employment through the state’s major and minor ports. The Cabinet also approved a new Crop Insurance Policy to boost agricultural investment. It decided to implement a special programme for the development of the Gowari community in the Special Backward Category on the lines of the schemes being implemented for the Scheduled Tribes by the Tribal Development Department.
The government also decided to increase the limit of the personal loan interest repayment scheme of the M.R. Other Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation and the Vasantrao Naik Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribes Development Corporation from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
