As India approaches the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, the Indian Army’s Air Defence (AD) regiment showcased its L70 air defence guns, underlining vigilance, precision, and operational readiness in countering evolving aerial threats.
The L70 guns, a key component of India’s air defence arsenal, played a crucial role during Operation Sindoor by effectively neutralising enemy drone threats and strengthening the country’s layered defence shield. The demonstration highlighted the Army’s preparedness to tackle modern warfare challenges, particularly the increasing use of unmanned aerial systems.During the exercise, the Indian Army also displayed its technological capabilities by deploying advanced drones for surveillance, target acquisition, and real-time intelligence gathering across difficult terrains. These unmanned systems were instrumental during the operation, enhancing situational awareness and operational efficiency.
The showcase further featured the Army’s tactical strength in waterborne operations, with specialised battle groups manoeuvring through shallow waters using agile assault boats. These units remain on high alert to intercept and neutralise potential threats approaching India’s maritime and creek areas.
An amphibious drill demonstrated the Army’s ability to launch coordinated attacks and dominate enemy territory, reflecting how forces maintained control over strategic creek regions during Operation Sindoor through integrated land and water operations.
Earlier, marking one year since the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, the Indian Army reiterated its firm resolve against terrorism. In a post on X, the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information stated, “For acts against India, the response is assured. Justice will be served. Always,” alongside a graphic reading “Operation Sindoor continues…”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the victims, affirming the nation’s united stance against terrorism. “As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed,” he said.
Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten. My thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss.

The Pahalgam attack, carried out in Jammu and Kashmir, had shocked the nation after terrorists targeted civilians, reportedly based on religious identity, triggering widespread outrage. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The strikes hit multiple launchpads linked to groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, significantly degrading their operational capabilities.
The operation led to a brief four-day military escalation, including drone attacks and cross-border shelling, before both sides agreed to a ceasefire on May 10 following communication between their respective Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO).
