Delhi imposes weekend curfew, Metro, buses to run at full capacity

In view of spike in COVID-19 cases, weekend curfew will be imposed in the national capital. Delhi Government officials barring essential services will work from home while private offices will work with 50 percent capacity. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority  met and decided on these new curbs in the city. Briefing media, Delhi Deputy Chief, minister Manish Sisodia  on Tuesday said Delhi metro and buses will again run at full capacity to avoid crowding outside metro stations and at bus stops. However, people will not be allowed to travel without a mask.  Sisodia said, as per the experts the Omicron variant is milder."DDMA has decided to impose a curfew in Delhi on Saturdays and Sundays to curb COVID surge," Sisodia told reporters. He warned Delhi residents against stepping out of their homes during the curfew on Saturday and Sunday. “Do not step out of home unless it is a medical emergency,” he said.

He said: "Experts at a meeting said that stay in home isolation if symptoms are not severe. Get hospitalised only if symptoms aggravate or oxygen level starts dipping." The government is trying its best to control the spread of Covid in Delhi. " On Tuesday there have been 11,0000 active cases in Delhi, out of which only 350 had to be hospitalised. Many of them were from outside. Only 124 oxygen beds are occupied right now," Manish Sisodia said. Meanwhile, a yellow alert under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has already been sounded in the city under which many restrictions, including night curfew between 10pm and 5am and shutting of educational institutions, gyms and cinemas, among others, have been imposed. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that there will be no lockdown in Delhi. On Tuesday , there are 5,500 cases and an 8.5% positivity rate," he added.
