REET aspirants buy Bluetooth slippers to cheat

Rajasthan police unearthed REET cheating racket across the state. In Bikaner where a gang fitted calling devices inside slippers to cheat in the exam. Throughout the day, 40 people were arrested and over two dozen interrogated. In Bikaner, police arrested five members of a gang including a woman who had fitted bluetooth enabled calling devices inside slippers to cheat. Initial investigation revealed that the accused had sold modified slippers for Rs 6 lakh each. Despite heavy security arrangements, the REET examinees could not be deterred from resorting to unfair means to take the examination. 

In Ajmer’s Kishangarh, a candidate took a Bluetooth device to the examination centre by hiding it in his slippers. However, even before he could sit for the exam, the police caught hold of him and are now conducting a thorough probe. The Ajmer SP has issued orders for all applicants to remove slippers 200 metres away from the examination centres. The exam for the selection of teachers was conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education. It was held across 33 districts at 3,993 centres in two shifts. Nearly 16.5 lakh candidates had registered for the examinations. To check attempts of cheating in the exam, many district administrations, including Jaipur, had suspended mobile and internet services.
