French Open: Maria crashes out Swiatek in Women's Singles

In French Open tennis tournament, defending champion Iga Swiatek crashed out losing the quarter final match to Greece's Maria Sakkari. Swiatek needed an off-court medical timeout in the second set, but continued the match with her right thigh strapped. The No.17 seed Sakkari, the first Greek woman to reach the semi-finals of a Grand Slam, ended Swiatek's 10-match winning run defeating her 6-4, 6-4. She will now face Czech Barbora Krejcikova, who won a nervy encounter with American teenager Coco Gauff 7-6, 6-3. 
Earlier, Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova made it to a Grand Slam semi-final, outlasting Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina 6-7 (2), 6-2, 9-7 in a quarter-final clash. Anastasia is the first Russian woman to reach a Grand Slam semi-final since Elena Vesnina reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2016. She will now meet unseeded Slovenian Tamara Zidansek. Tamara overcame world No. 35 Spaniard Paula Badosa 7-5, 4-6, 8-6 in an epic quarter-final match and secured a place in the semi-finals. Tamara became the first Slovenian to make the semi-finals of a Grand Slam tournament, with her quarter-final win in two hour and 26 minutes. 
In the men's section, a singles quarterfinal  a fired-up Novak Djokovic repelled a stirring fightback by Italian Matteo Berrettini to claim a 6-3 6-2 6-7(5) 7-5 victory on Wednesday to set up a mouth-watering semi-final showdown with defending champion Rafael Nadal.
