England with thumping win over Ukraine cruised through to the semi-finals for the first time in its 25 years of appearance in the European Championships. They will encounter Denmark in the 2nd Semi-final on 8th July. Before this, Denmark also booked place in the last round of four after a well-deserved victory over The Czech Republic. England routed Ukraine 4-0 in the last quarterfinals Sunday morning. Captain Kane Harry gave his side hurricane like start. England went ahead with quite early lead when Kane netted the ball in Ukraine’s goal post in the 4th minute. This was England’s earliest goal so far in the Euro cup matches since 2004.
They hold 1-0 lead till the first half. Their dominance continued also in the 2nd half. Harry Maguir’s header in 46th minute put England ahead 2-0. Captain Kane struck his 2nd goal of the match in 50th minute and increased the lead to 3-0. Then substitute Jordan Henderson made it 4-0 and secured England’s comfortable passage into the last four. England effectively summed up the Quarterfinal stages to clash with Denmark in the 2nd semi-final. Riding on high confidence, they now will try to reach their first ever Euro Cup final and also to claim first major international title since their World Cup title win in 1966.
Denmark too made through to the semi-finals of the tournament after a pretty long time of decades. They had won the title last time in 1992. The Danes came over the tough resistance from the Czech Republic with 2-1 score in the quarterfinal yesterday night. Denmark led the first half 2-0 with goals from Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg. The Czech Republic rallied in the 2nd half and Patrik Schick scored the only goal for his team. This was Schick’s fifth goal of the tournament. But Denmark defended its lead successfully despite the Czechs all out efforts to come on equal terms. The Danes will try to continue their fairy tale run also in the semi-final against England.
Which team’s dream will come true to make the finals and lay hands on the title? For that, football lovers will have to wait till 7th July for nerve pulsating. Semi-final encounters…… Italy vs Spain and England vs Denmark. All four teams are strong contender for the coveted European Championship title.
