In Madhya Pradesh, two new ministers have been inducted in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet. Governor Anandiben Patel on Sunday administered oath to Tulsi Silavat and Govind Singh Rajput at function in Raj Bhawan in Bhopal. Both the new ministers in the Chouhan government had quit the Congress after resigning from the legislature in March last year. Both are Scindia supporters. This was the third expansion of the state cabinet after Chouhan took over as chief minister for the fourth term in March 2020 after the Congress government collapsed.
Silawat and Rajput had been inducted into the cabinet in April 2020 during its first expansion. However, they had to step down in October as they were not members of the state legislature because the coronavirus pandemic delayed the bypolls. The second expansion of Chouhan''s cabinet took place on July 2 last year with induction of 28 ministers, including a dozen loyalists of Jyotiraditya Scindia. In the assembly bypolls held on November last year, Silawat and Rajput won from Sanver and Surkhi respectively in the bypoll.
