Trump issues emergency declaration for Joe Biden's inaugural

President  Donald Trump issued an emergency declaration for the nation's capital amid growing concern among local and federal authorities about violence in the lead-up to and during President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20.The declaration allows the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate with local authorities as needed. Meanwhile , US State department  website mistakingly shows Trum's term ended on January 11, 2021.Trump's term in office runs through Wednesday, Jan. 20, when President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in. Pence's term also runs until Jan. 20. According to BuzzFeed News citing unnamed sources, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has kicked off an investigation into the issue.

Democrats formally introduced their impeachment resolution on Monday. It charges Trump with "incitement of insurrection." Pence and his fellow Republicans have shown little interest in invoking the amendment, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats have tried to ramp up the pressure on them to act against Trump. They called on Pence to respond within 24 hours after the passage of the resolution.
