Security forces have arrested an alleged terrorist suspected to be behind a grenade attack on a CRPF camp earlier this year in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said on Thursday.According to information,the arrest was made during a cordon-and-search operation in Hari Parigam village of Awantipora tehsil late Wednesday evening. The suspect, identified as Sakib Reyaz Ganie, a resident of Chaki-Cholan in Shopian district, was taken into custody after security forces intercepted him during the operation.
Police officials said Ganie was the prime suspect in the grenade attack on a CRPF camp at Lariyar on May 20, 2025. “He was directly involved in the incident and had been under the radar for months,” a senior officer said.Arms and ammunition were also recovered from his possession, including a pistol, a pistol magazine, and seven live 9 mm rounds, officials added.The arrest marks a significant breakthrough for security forces in the region as efforts continue to crack down on terror modules operating in South Kashmir.
