The president has appointed 9 illuminaries as judges of Supreme Court. Among them four are chief justices, equal number of judges and one is senior advocate of supreme court. These include three women judges also. Accordingly Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha, Miss Justice Bela Madhurya Trivedi, Judge, Gujarat High Court,Justice M.M. Sundresh, Judge, Madras High Court, Justice Chudalayil Thevan Ravikumar,Judge, Kerala High Court, Smt. Justice Bangalore Venkataramiah Nagarathna, Judge, Kamataka High Court, Kumari Justice Hima Kohli, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court,i Justice Vikram Nath, Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court and Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka, Chief Justice of the Kamataka High Court. The Centre is learnt to have cleared all the nine names recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for appointment to the top court.
A senior advocate of Jabalpur Pranay Verma has been appointed a Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Miss Kesang Doma Bhutia, Rabindranath Samanta, Sugato Majumdar, Bivas Pattanayak and Ananda Kumar Mukherjee, has been appointed Additional Judges of the Calcutta High Court, in that order of seniority.
