Smoking should be completely banned: Celebs on World No Tobacco Day

World No Tobacco Day is observed every year on May 31. It is celebrated to create awareness about the ill-effects of tobacco and the diseases it causes. Sharing their thoughts on this day, celebrities said that using tobacco in any form should be banned completely.
Saanand Verma
Yes, smoking is a huge problem, and I strongly criticize it. Despite our efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking, it seems to be having little impact. I see more and more people smoking every day, and it's a trend that's only increasing. In my opinion, smoking should be completely banned and made illegal, as it's a harmful habit that affects not just individuals but entire communities. Unfortunately, the lack of designated smoking areas in India means that passive smoking is a common occurrence. Moreover, the lucrative nature of the tobacco industry makes it unlikely that smoking will be eradicated anytime soon. Humans have a tendency to be drawn to negative things, as evidenced by the popularity of argumentative and sensationalized news programs. No matter how many warnings are printed on cigarette packets, people will continue to smoke until they suffer the consequences of their actions.
Harjinder Singh
I am completely opposed to tobacco use because it harms the body and leads to cancer. I've witnessed many people suffer from this disease. Tobacco addiction takes over after a while, impairing mental function. Each cigarette you smoke reduces your lifespan. Tobacco causes mouth and throat cancer. Stay tobacco-free, and let’s work together to make the world a healthier place. I believe the government should significantly increase the tax on tobacco products. Higher prices could serve as a deterrent, potentially encouraging some individuals to quit smoking due to the financial burden. Additionally, the government should impose substantial penalties on those who smoke in public places. Such measures would help to discourage smoking in shared spaces, thereby protecting non-smokers from secondhand smoke and promoting a healthier environment for everyone.
Anuj Arora
Among the youth, tobacco use is frequently adopted as a trend or a means to appear more sophisticated or "cool." This social pressure can lead young individuals to start smoking or using other forms of tobacco without fully understanding the long-term consequences. It's crucial to address this misconception and emphasize that using tobacco does not enhance one's image; rather, it poses significant risks to one's health and well-being. Although systemic changes are slow due to economic factors, each person has the power to make choices that protect their health and set a positive example for others. To all individuals considering or currently using tobacco, I would say they should act responsibly, prioritize their well-being, and help create a healthier future for themselves and those around them.
Shiwani Chakraborty
Not only today, but I wish to see a tobacco-free world every day. The harmful effects of tobacco are well-documented, and it is a substance that causes a great deal of harm to both individuals and society as a whole. When you choose to smoke or consume tobacco in any form, you are not only causing significant damage to your own health, but you are also negatively impacting the environment around you and the well-being of others who do not wish to be exposed to its harmful effects. A tobacco-free world would be a healthier, cleaner, and more pleasant place for everyone. It would significantly reduce the burden of disease, protect the environment, and ensure that future generations can grow up without the threat of tobacco-related illnesses. I strongly wish for this change to happen, not just today, but every single day.
Poonam Shende
The issue of passive smoking, also known as secondhand smoke, is particularly concerning. People who are exposed to secondhand smoke are at risk of developing serious health problems, even if they have never smoked a cigarette themselves. This includes children, pregnant women, and people with pre-existing health conditions who may be especially vulnerable to the effects of tobacco smoke. While the government may not fully curb the tobacco industry's influence, each person can make informed decisions to avoid tobacco and encourage others to do the same. By taking proactive steps to care for oneself, such as seeking healthier ways to manage stress and resisting social pressures, individuals can significantly reduce the prevalence of tobacco use and its associated health risks. Protecting your health should be of utmost importance, as the consequences of tobacco use can be devastating and irreversible.
Aadesh Chaudhary
I used to smoke, but it was taking a toll on my health and fitness goals. I realized I had to quit, and that's exactly what I did. The first five days were incredibly challenging, but I persevered and overcame the urge. Giving up smoking has been a game-changer for my health and wellbeing. I can now work out more efficiently, run faster, and even play cricket without getting winded. It's been an amazing one and a half years since I quit smoking, and I'm thrilled to have made the decision to prioritize my health.
Ankit Bathla
Well, I don't think smoking can be banned because if you ban something, it becomes an illegal underground trade like so many other things going on. So, I would suggest that there should be more awareness. Instead of having an actor smoke, I would say there should be more videos about the awareness of what happens when you smoke and what can happen when you smoke.

Many parents still struggle to accept their children if..: Monika Singh

Monika Singh, who was last seen in Tulsi Dham Ke Laddu Gopal, believes that though our country has progressed in terms of accepting the LGBTQIA+ community, we still have a long way to go. She said, “Although progress has been made, acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community in India still has a long way to go. Unfortunately, many parents still struggle to accept their children if they don't conform to traditional gender norms, and this lack of acceptance can lead to unequal treatment.”
“I have several friends from this community who have faced similar challenges. Moreover, some individuals pretend to be allies but don't genuinely support the cause,” she added. She feels that people who are still in the closet or choose to keep their sexual and gender identities hidden deserve more understanding and space. She said that organisations should be established to provide a safe platform for discussions and support. She added, “Despite their talents, many individuals from the LGBTQ+ community face rejection and discrimination. A system needs to be put in place to address this issue, especially in cities and villages where discussing sexuality is still taboo. Personally, I know people who hide their true identities and pretend to be someone else, and it's heartbreaking.”
Monika also pointed out that social media has played a significant role in raising awareness about LGBTQIA+ by providing a platform for people to share their stories and connect with others who have gone through similar experiences. However, she mentioned that our movies still need to do a lot of work to create awareness.“Movies should promote empathy and understanding to help break down barriers and foster acceptance. I recently watched the movie Bol, featuring Atif Aslam, which was both impactful and heartbreaking. To create more awareness and end the stigma surrounding LGBTQIA+ issues, we need open and honest communication both online and offline. Only then can we dispel these harmful myths and create a more inclusive society,” she ended.

Sumukhi Pendse: Pukaar – Dil se Dil Tak captures a mother's deep yearning

Actress Sumukhi Pendse, who plays the character of Rajeshwari Maheshwari, in the show Pukaar- Dil Se Dil Tak, says that the show has an emotional angle that everyone relates to. She says that a family drama intertwined with suspense, such as this one, works wonders with the audience."Pukaar - Dil Se Dil Tak{ is a heartfelt call from a mother to her daughters. They were separated at the age of 5 due to an accident, and for the past 20 years, the mother has been searching for them. This show captures a mother's deep yearning to reconnect with her daughters. It promises to ensure that a mother's call reaches her daughters' hearts. The story is a family drama with an element of suspense, exploring how the girls were separated, the obstacles keeping them apart, who is behind these obstacles, and how they will eventually overcome them to reunite. It's a very interesting and engaging storyline,” she says.
Talking about the title of the show, she says, “Pukaar – Dil Se Dil Tak," as mentioned earlier, is a mother's heartfelt call to her daughters. It's an emotional drama throughout, emphasising the deep bond and longing between a mother and her children. The title reflects this significance, capturing the essence of a mother's unwavering call to her daughters.”Ask her what prompted her to take up the show, she says, “When I was approached for this show, they told me about the character "Rajeshwari." She is a business magnate who has elevated the company, "Maheshwari Masalas," to its current status. Thanks to her hard work, Maheshwari Masalas is now renowned throughout the country and is even gaining momentum overseas. Rajeshwari is a successful businesswoman and the head of the Maheshwari clan, bearing dual responsibilities for both the business and the family. She is the driving force behind both. Her business is her baby, and she will use any means necessary to ensure its success. She is very clear that the business is hers, she lives for it, and it is her family's legacy. She will go to any lengths for her business and family, without hesitation. Rajeshwari is a cold-blooded business tycoon, but she also has a softer side as the family's matriarch. This duality is what makes her character interesting. She is the chief antagonist in the show, and playing an antagonist after a long time is exciting. I enjoy playing negative roles; it allows me to channel my frustrations in front of the camera, making it easier to be a good person in real life.”
Talking about her character, she says, “My character, "Rajeshwari Maheshwari," is a business magnate. She carries herself with great poise and has a regal approach to life. The environment on a set has directly influence productivity: Sukoon

Sukoon, who is seen as Anusha in Ravindra Gautam and Raghuvir Shekhawat’s Dahej Daasi, which is produced under their banner, Do Dooni 4 Films, believes an actor’s performance is directly proportional to the environment on a set.She said, “The environment on a set has proven to influence well-being and directly influence productivity. Those who are most satisfied by their set environment will be more motivated and, subsequently, more productive. Individual performance always depends on the working environment. It is our best desire to work in a place where we have support, mutual understanding, motivation, and help from people all around us.”
Looking back at her journey as an actor, she said that she was an introvert and knew nothing about the industry, but she worked on herself and is open to learning new things and working on her skills. She added, “Everybody has their own journey. It’s what makes you ‘You’. My progress in the last few months performing and learning here in Dahej Dasi has made me feel so proud of myself.” She further said, “My skills in acting have progressed at such an elevated pace that sometimes I even surprise myself. From working on the finer, smaller details like our breathing techniques to creating beautiful sequences of movement, I found that I’m really starting to develop the key skills of my craft in ways I haven't found in previous studies. My focus and drive have also grown, and I’m so excited to continue to learn and develop my art form.”
Sukoon also believes that ambition overrides both talent and resources when it comes to the most important tools for achieving success. She said, “You might have the best skill set required for your job, but you won't be able to advance your career unless you have the ambition to excel in your particular field.” She feels opportunities get you closer to success, and added, “Whatever goals and dreams you may have, you may have difficulties achieving them if you don't grab opportunities as they come. But sometimes it might be better to say no. Every opportunity you accept means there's less time for another one, and sometimes the future opportunity is more important to your long-term success.”

Baby: This has to go down in history as one of the best spy-thriller movies ever made in Hindi cinema and Madhurima truly slayed here with perfection. She played the role of Anjali Rajput, the role of Akshay Kumar's character's wife and well, her screen presence, poise and charismatic grace earned her a tremendous fan following for all the right reasons. With all her heart and conviction, she played the character of Dr. Devyani in the series and no brownie points for guessing that the series will always be etched in history as one of her best works.
