Additional Secretary of School Education Department and Literacy in Ministry of Education Santosh Kumar Sarangi has informed that in recognition of valuable contributions of the teachers and to take National Education Policy-2020 a step forward, the Department has decided to celebrate Shikshak Parv this year too. Briefing media in New Delhi, Sarangi said, Shikshak Parv- 2021 will commence from Teacher’s Day and will continue till 17th of September through virtual mode. On vaccination drive to vaccinate more than two crore teachers, Sarangi said, the progress of vaccination in the states is being monitored by the Department of School Education and Literacy. He said, this will also contribute to decisions pertaining to school reopening.Joint Secretary R. C. Meena informed that President Ram Nath Kovind will confer the awards to 44 awardees through virtual mode on Teacher’s Day. He said, a documentary film on each of the awardee teachers will also be shown. Joint Secretary Vipin Kumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the teachers, students, parents and stakeholders associated with education on 7th of September at 11 A.M.
-Central Bureau of Investigation has filed the first charge sheet in relation with the cases of post-poll violence in West Bengal. The charge sheet was submitted before Rampurhat Sub-Divisional Court in Birbhum district on Thursday. It contains names of two accused allegedly involved in the murder of Manoj Jaiswal, claimed to be a BJP worker. The CBI has been investigating cases of alleged murder, rape and crime against women as per the order of the Calcutta High Court. The central agency has filed 34 FIRs so far. The Calcutta High Court also constituted a Special Investigation Team consisting of senior IPS officers of the state. The State Government named 10 IPS officers to assist the SIT.
-Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant on Thursday directed to ensure remittance of the pending scholarships to the eligible students immediately. Scholarships and tuition fees are given to students by various departments in the state, but students face technical difficulties in getting the scholarships. He said, the Department of Information Technology and the concerned department should hold a meeting this week to review and resolve all the complaints and distribute the scholarships pending since the last two years without any further delay. A review meeting was held at the State Secretariat in Mumbai regarding the pending scholarships of the students. Mr. Samant said that besides providing good education to the students, all the facilities should also be made available to them in time. He also said that colleges should not refuse to provide documents to students and see to it that the students don’t suffer academically because of it. He added that action will be taken against the concerned college in case of complaints from the students.
-Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has constituted a Committee to review the existing guidelines of Journalist Welfare Scheme and make appropriate recommendations for changes to the guidelines. The committee will be headed by Prasar Bharati Board Member Ashok Kumar Tandon. The committee will have nine Members from different print and electronics media and an Additional Director General of PIB as members. Director (IP) in the Ministry will be Convener of the committee. It will examine the need for revision of quantum of ex-gratia payment in death as well as other cases under Journalist Welfare Scheme. The committee will look into the aspect of differentiation or parity between accredited and non-accredited journalists for availing benefits under the scheme. It will revise and broad-basing the definition of working journalist for the purpose of the Scheme keeping in view the Occupational, Safety, Health and Working Condition Code-2010 as well as Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code ) Rules, 2021. The committee will submit its recommendation within two months. Press Information Bureau will provide secretarial assistance for convening the meeting of committee.
-Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday inaugurated several projects and laid foundation stone for various upcoming projects in Biswanath and Sonitpur districts. The Chief Minister inaugurated the Nagsankar Stadium and Tupia-Balijuri road at Sootea LAC in Biswanath district. He also inaugurated the road to Kanyaka farm including a guest house of that farm and visited the minority dominated Goitamari model village in Sonitpur district. Chief Minister Sarma laid the foundation stone of Dhalaibil-Jamuguri and Jamuguri-Panpur PMGSY roads, Balijuri weekly market, Chengamari Sub-Centre, Balijuri MPHC, Anganwadi Centre and a water supply scheme.
