Rajya Sabha Chairman accepts merger of seven AAP MPs with BJP

Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Monday accepted the merger of seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).With the merger of 7 AAP MPs, BJP’s strength in Rajya Sabha rises to 113 while AAP falls to three. The MPs include Raghav Chadha, Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta & Vikramjit Singh Sahney are Members of BJP Parliamentary Party.

On April 24, 2026, in a massive setback to the AAP, seven of its 10 Rajya Sabha members broke away and joined BJP, marking a significant political realignment in the Upper House.
