Railways achieves highest ever scrap sale earning

Railways has achieved its highest ever scrap sale in 2020-21. Through this sale, Railways has earned Rs 4573 crore. Railway Ministry said, Railways makes all out efforts to optimally utilise resources by mobilising scrap materials and sale through e-auction. It said, generation and sales of scrap railway material is an ongoing process and is monitored at highest level in Zonal Railways and in Railway Board. The Ministry said, Railway administration makes all out efforts to mobilise scrap materials and sale through e-auction.

-Confederation of indian industries (CII) welcomed RBI’s Policy. Director General of CII Chandrajit Banerjee said, Beset with multiple challenges, the foremost being the uncertainty stemming from the second wave and rising inflationary risks, the RBI did well to hold on to the policy rates while continuing the accommodative stance.CII appreciates that the Central Bank is continuing the use of the unconventional policy tools in its arsenal, such as OMOs, OTs, TLTROs to avoid any untoward surge in yields, and to ensure smooth operation of the Government borrowing program. The introduction of Secondary Market G-Sec Acquisition Programme 1.0 (G-SAP) to support a market with adequate liquidity is also welcome.Chief Economist of Bandhan Bank Siddhartha Sanyal said, The RBI kept the key policy rates unchanged, as expected. The central bank has revised their growth forecasts modestly lower and inflation forecasts higher. However, despite the upward revision in their inflation forecasts, which we feel is largely due to supply-side issues, 

-In view of the recent spike in COVID cases, DoPT has issued an Office Memorandum advising all the Central government employees of the age of 45 years and above to get themselves vaccinated to effectively contain the spread of COVID-19. The employees have been advised to continue to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour even after the vaccination.The government has been monitoring the situation very closely and based on the strategy adopted for prioritising vaccination, all persons of the age of 45 years and above can participate in the exercise. It is imperative for all the government employees to avail of this vaccination facility to ensure their own safety as well as of those who come in their contact. 

-Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has instructed officials to revive quarantine centres to tackle migrant rush in the state. During a review meeting with senior officials, Kumar said migrant workers from Bihar have started returning from states such as Maharastra and Punjab following partial lockdown and other prohibitory orders enforced in the states. He instructed to keep a strict watch on people coming from outside and those coming in their contact. Nitish Kumar asked people to be for the vaccination.  Kumar said higher rate of vaccination will ensure lesser impact of infection. Meanwhile, the state government has cancelled the leave of all government healthcare workers till May 31 in view of increasing number of Covid -19 cases in the state. On the other hand record 1080 fresh cases were reported during the last 24 hours. However  Covid-19 recovery rate is decreasing and it is 97.58 per cent.

-In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a youth identified as Mausam from Lipa area of Kashmir under illegal occupation of Pakistan, was repatriated to Pakistani authorities after he inadvertently crossed the line of control into Karnah in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on 5th of this month.Defence Spokesperson said in Srinagar, based on the interaction between the authorities of both the sides on the Hotline, the Indian authorities repatriated the youth to the Pakistani authorities from Tithwal crossing point as a humanitarian gesture. The youth was presented sweets and clothes on his return to Pakistan. The spokesperson further said that such inadvertent crossings have taken place earlier also due to close proximity of villages along line of control on either sides. However, the Indian side has always been prompt in returning the individuals keeping the humanitarian issue in mind.
