Praveen Sinha appointed acting Director, CBI

Praveen Sinha has been appointed as the acting chief of Central Bureau of Investigation(GBI). He is a1988 batch Gujarat cadre IPS officer and presently posted as Additional Director, CBI. The ACC also approved his appointment. The outgoing Rishi Kumar Shukla was appointed as CBI Director on February 4, 2019, He was a 1983 batch MP cadre IPS officer. His two year's fixed term ended on Wednesday. 

According to sources The selection committee, comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India SA Bobde and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, is expected to meet soon to decide the next CBI director. it is said that the the top contenders for the op post are Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, Rakesh Asthana, YC Modi, HC Awasthy and SS Deswal.
