In a major move,the Indian government has appointed Pradeep Kumar Rawat as new Ambassador to China. Rawat, a senior diplomat, had earlier served in Hong Kong and Beijing. He will succeed Vikram Misri. At present, Rawat, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of 1990 batch, is serving as the Indian ambassador to the Netherlands. Ministry of External Affairs has appinted Anindya Banerjee, presently Assistant High Commissioner of India to Chittagong, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Cameroon. He is a 2006 battch IFS officer. Rawat served as Ambassador of India to Indonesia and Timor-Leste from September 2017-December 2020. He speaks fluent Mandarin.
Meanwhile, Vivek Gogial has been appointed as the Director, National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) He is a 1991 batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer. He is presently Joint Director in the NCRB since November 2018. He will take over the charge from Ramphal Panwar, who is schedule to retire on December 31, this year. He is a 1988 batch IPS officer of West Bengal cadre.
