Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Atmanirbhar Bharat(Self Reliant India) has direct connection with self-confidence of the countrymen and own house under PMAY-G amplifies this confidence and make them believe that they can overcome any problem in life.The Prime Minister released financial assistance of around 2,691 crore rupees to six lakh 10 thousand beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday through video conferencing.Prime Minister said that the PMAY-G was launched five years ago and in this short span of time, the scheme made the poor people of the country believe that they can have their own house. UP is among those states which are providing houses for the poor people in a speedy manner. The Prime Minister also spoke to beneficiaries of five districts Kheeri, Chitrakoot, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Saharanpur on the occasion.
Modi said, to end miseries of the poor people of country more than two crore houses were built in the country under the PMAY-G.The Prime Minister said, when the scheme was launched in 2016 there was no support from the then government of state to the scheme and people have not forgotten that. He said that a total of 22 lakh houses to be made in UP under the scheme and most of the work is being done during the present government. The Prime Minister praised UP government for fast implementation of government schemes and also for the better law and order in state. He said, in more than 8,500 villages of UP the work is complete and more than 51 thousand land proofs or Gharauni were provided to the beneficiaries. Terming the houses under PMAY-G a tool of women empowerment, Mr Modi said that they are empowering women in rural India since most of them are being given to the lady of the family. Many added facilities like gas cylinder and electricity connection is being provided along with the house.
Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, first time two lakh crore rupees is being spend in this fiscal year by the Ministry and a major part of it goes to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme which became pivotal during this COVID scenario. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that till date, 14 lakh 61 thousand beneficiaries have received houses under the scheme and seven lakh 10 thousand applications have been approved this year. Now in almost every village of state one can see the houses under the scheme. So far 1.26 crore houses have already been built across the country under the scheme in the country under PMAY-G which was launched on 20th November, 2016 by Prime Minister.
