PM stresses for timely completion of projects

The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the FDI proposal for an investment of upto 15 thousand crore rupees by Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding Limited. The investment will be a major boost to the infrastructure, construction and also to the Airport sector. It will also be a significant boost to the recently announced National Monetisation Pipeline, as it will help fund leasing out of state-owned infrastructure assets which involves handling assets like roads, railways, airports, sports stadiums, power transmission lines and gas pipelines to private operators. The investment will considerably substantiate the government's plan to develop world class Airport and transport related infrastructure though private partnership. The move will also generate indirect employment during construction and ancillary activities.

-The Centre will provide two crore additional Vaccine Doses in the last week of this month to immunize school teachers across the country on a priority basis. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting with all States and Union Territories. He said, States and Union Territories may use Unified District Information System of Education data and co-ordinate with State Education Departments, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan. This will provide necessary fillip to this vaccination programme.During the meeting, the progress of COVID-19 vaccination was reviewed and States were advised to focus on enhancing second dose coverage as well as immunization of school teachers and staff. States were apprised on prompt utilization of Emergency COVID Response Package funds. They were also advised to ensure compliance of COVID Appropriate Behaviour and other precautionary measures ahead of the upcoming festival season. He cited the example of Kerala where a visible rise of cases has been registered over the past week post Onam.

-Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan on Wednesday inaugurated 5 day Total Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery Camp organized by Baqirya Health Care and Research Center (BHC&RC) Kargil in collaboration with Department of Health, LAHDC, Kargil.The 5-day camp will be held under the supervision of Operating Faculty, Dr Atique Vasudev, Director Knee Division Medanta, the Medicity Gurugram, Haryana.Highlighting the activities of BHC&RC in the past, Vice President Dr. Oliyat Ali said that the first-ever knee and hip replacement surgery camp was held in Kargil in 2019, where around 23 successful knee replacement surgeries were conducted, along with 1 successful hip replacement surgery. He also said that this year, around 50 patients have registered for knee replacement and 4 patients for hip replacement surgeries.

-Jal Shakti Ministry on Wednesday began SUJALAM, a 100 days campaign as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to create more and more ODF Plus villages by undertaking waste water management at village level. During this campaign ten lakh Soak-pits will be created. The Ministry said, the effort of campaign would be directed towards achieving the ODF plus status for villages across the country in an accelerated manner in a short time. The Campaign will continue to run for the next 100 days. The Ministry said, the Campaign will help in management of the wastewater. It will boost the momentum of Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin phase -2 activities through community participation and it will increase awareness about ODF-plus activities. The focus area of this campaign is to ensure that all newly emerging Households in the village have access to toilets.

-Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired the meeting of the 37th edition of PRAGATI, the ICT-based multi-modal platform for pro-active governance and timely implementation, involving Centre and State governments. In the meeting, nine agenda items were taken for review including eight projects and one scheme. Among the eight projects, three projects each were from the Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and two projects were from the Ministry of Power. These eight projects have a cumulative cost of one lakh 26 thousand crore rupees concerning 14 states. These Sates are Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttrakhand, Manipur and Delhi.The Prime Minister stressed on the significance of timely completion of these projects. During the interaction, Modi reviewed the scheme of One Nation – One Ration Card. He asked the officials to explore the multiple utilities of the technological platform developed under the scheme to ensure provision of a wide array of benefits to the citizens. Prime Minister also directed the state officials to keep monitoring construction of oxygen plants and availability of hospital beds.
