Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that the 21st century is completely technology-driven. Even in this decade, technology is going to increase its dominance in different fields. Life without technology would now be incomplete in a way. Addressing the 54th Convocation Ceremony of Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur on Tuesday, he ealed to the students and youth of the country to see dreams, turn them into resolutions and achieve them to make Aatmanirbhar Bharat which is a permanent solution of many problems which the country is facing. Modi said that the country has full faith in the capabilities of the students and the faculty of IIT and is ready to help them in every possible manner. The Prime Minister said that the country has more than 75 unicorns, more than 50,000 start-ups. Of these, 10,000 have come only in the last 6 months.During the convocation, Prime Minister launched the blockchain-based digital degrees and all the students were issued digital degrees through an in-house blockchain-driven technology developed at the Institute under the National Blockchain Project.These digital degrees can be verified globally and are unforgeable. On the occasion, a total of 1,723 students received their degrees and 80 prizes and medals were given.

In aother programme, Modi inaugurated the completed section of Kanpur Metro Rail Project. Prime Minister inspected the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and undertook a metro ride from IIT Metro Station to Geeta Nagar. The prime minister was accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The entire length of the Metro Rail Project in Kanpur is 32 kilometres and is being built at a cost of over Rs 11,000 crore. PM Modi also inaugurated the Bina-Panki Multi-product Pipeline Project in Kanpur. The project has a 356 Km long project which has a capacity of around 3.45 million metric tonnes per annum. Extending from Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh to Panki in Kanpur, the project has been built at a cost of over 1,500 crore. It will help the region access petroleum products from the Bina refinery.
