India on Wednesday celebrated the 93rd Air Force Day, honouring the valour, discipline, and professionalism of its Air Warriors. The day paid tribute to the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s skies and its humanitarian contributions during natural disasters.Extending greetings on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the indomitable spirit and dedication of IAF personnel and their families. In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the Indian Air Force “epitomises bravery, discipline and precision,” and praised its tireless service in defending the nation through challenging times.“Greetings to all the courageous Air Warriors and their families on Air Force Day. The Indian Air Force epitomises bravery, discipline and precision. They have played a vital role in safeguarding our skies, including during the most challenging situations,” PM Modi said.“Their role during natural calamities is also very commendable. President Droupadi Murmu also extended her wishes to serving personnel, veterans, and their families. In her message on X, she wrote, “Warm greetings to all air warriors, veterans and their families on Air Force Day! The Indian Air Force has always demonstrated courage, commitment, and excellence. Our Air warriors protect our skies and serve the nation with tireless dedication during disasters and humanitarian missions.”The day’s celebrations began with tributes at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. The ceremonial salute was followed by a march past at the Hindon Air Base, showcasing the pride and professionalism of India’s Air Warriors.A major highlight of the celebrations was the static and aerial display of advanced fighter jets and indigenous defence platforms, reflecting India’s growing self-reliance in defence technology. The display featured frontline aircraft such as the Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30MKI, MiG-29, and the recently retired MiG-21 Bison, which served the IAF for over six decades.Also on display were indigenous systems including the Netra AEW&C, C-17 Globemaster III, C-130J Hercules, Apache attack helicopters, Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH), Akash Surface-to-Air Missile System, and the S-band Rohini radar.The event also paid tribute to IAF operations that compelled adversaries to the negotiation table and reinforced India’s operational readiness and strategic superiority.
