The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a supplementary chargesheet against Pakistan-based terrorist Hafiz Saeed, the chief and founder of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its proxy outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF), in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack case. The supplementary chargesheet, filed before the Special NIA Court in Jammu, names Hafiz Saeed both in his individual capacity and as the chief of the proscribed terrorist organisations LeT and its active proxy, TRF.
The NIA has charged Saeed under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The charges also include offences relating to waging war against India and conspiring from Pakistan to carry out anti-India terrorist activities. The supplementary chargesheet expands upon the original 1,597-page chargesheet and details Pakistan's conspiracy, Hafiz Saeed's role, and the evidence collected through the NIA's scientific investigation and extensive examination of the crime scene.
Earlier, in the original chargesheet filed on December 15, 2025, the NIA had named Pakistan-based handler Sajid Jatt as an accused. It also chargesheeted the three terrorists killed by security forces during Operation Mahadev in July 2025, two arrested accused, and the banned terrorist organisations LeT and TRF as legal entities. According to the NIA, all of them played key roles in planning, facilitating, and executing the Pahalgam terror attack.
On April 22, 2025, Pakistan-sponsored terrorists carried out a brutal attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, selectively targeting victims on the basis of their religion. The attack claimed the lives of 25 innocent tourists and one local resident.
