The Unique Identification Authority of India, UIDAI, on Thursday launched the Aadhaar mascot, Udai. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said the mascot will be helpful in making Aadhaar-related information more relatable and people-friendly. It added that the mascot will simplify communication of Aadhaar services – including updates, authentication, and offline verification.A youth from Kerala has designed UIDAI’s newly launched Aadhaar mascot ‘Udai’. Arun Gokul of Thrissur won first prize in the national mascot design competition, which was conducted through the MyGov platform. The open contest drew 875 entries from across the country, including students,professionals and designers.
A big shout-out to Mr. Arun Gokul from Thrissur, Kerala for winning the First Prize with reward of ₹50,000 and certificate of appreciation.

The name ‘Udai’ was selected through a separate national competition, with Riya Jain of Bhopal winning first prize. Idris Dawaiwala of Pune and Maharaj Saran Chellapilla of Hyderabad secured the second and third positions respectively.875 entries were received from across the country. CEO of UIDAI, Bhuvnesh Kumar, said, UIDAI reaffirmed the core principle of Aadhaar by inviting people to design and name this mascot. He said that the responses of citizens demonstrated people’s connection with Aadhaar.
