Asha Bhosle hospitalised after respiratory and cardiac issues

Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai on Saturday evening due to chest infection and exhaustion, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle said. The 92-year-old singer was admitted to Breach Candy hospital in South Mumbai. Sources had earlier said she suffered cardiac arrest and also had pulmonary problems.

Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished voices in Hindi cinema, Asha Bhosle has enjoyed a remarkable career spanning more than eight decades, recording songs in multiple Indian languages for films and albums. Over the years, she has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan, awarded in 2008.Asha Bhosle’s career has encompassed thousands of songs across classical, ghazal, folk, pop, and cabaret styles in multiple languages. Recognised with honours like the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Padma Vibhushan, she holds a Guinness World Record for the most studio recordings by any musician. Her collaborations with composers such as R.D. Burman produced timeless hits that continue to resonate across generations. 

Mumbai, Maharashtra: Playback singer Asha Bhosle suffered a cardiac arrest and has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. She is currently undergoing treatment in the Emergency Medical Services unit.

Her vast repertoire includes iconic songs such as "Dil Cheez Kya Hai," "Inn Aankhon Ki Masti Ke," "Ye Kya Jagah Hai Doston," and "Jab Bhi Milti Hai." Known for her versatility, she moved beyond early typecasting in upbeat dance numbers like "Piya Tu Ab To Aaja" and "O Haseena Zulfon Wali" to deliver memorable ghazals and classical pieces.
