Kartarpur Corridor to reopen Wednesday, Amarinder Singh welcomes

The Kartarpur Corridor would be reopened on Wednesday. Home minister Amit Shah give this information in a tweet. He tweeted: “In a major decision that would benefit a large number of Sikh pilgrims, PM @narendramodi government has decided to reopen Kartarpur Sahib corridor from tomorrow 17th November. This decision reflects the immense devotion of the Modi Government to Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and our Sikh Nation.” The government's announcement came ahead of Guru Nanak Jayanti on Friday.

Reacting to the decision, former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh tweeted: “My profound gratitude to PM @narendramodi and HM @AmitShah for the timely opening of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. It will provide a chance to thousands of devotees to pay obeisance at the holy shrine on the occasion of Guru Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.” The Kartarpur corridor allows pilgrims to cross the India-Pakistan border without the requirement of a visa so that they can visit the Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan.India and Pakistan signed the longstanding Kartarpur corridor agreement on October 24, 2019, after months of negotiations. The corridor was to become operational from “dawn to dusk, seven days a week, throughout the year, except for closure on notified days or exigencies which will be informed to Government of India in advance”, according to the agreement, allowing pilgrims to visit Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara, an important holy site for the Sikh.
