In Karnataka, at least eight people were killed and more than 20 were critically injured including students after the bus they were travelling overturned near Pavagada in Tumkur district. As per reports, the bus was carrying 60 passengers and turned turtle after the driver lost control over it. The bus was carrying 100, including 40 passengers on top of the bus. The bus driver and conductor are absconding after the accident. Expressing grief over the incident, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in a tweet said, deeply anguished to hear about the loss of lives in a bus accident in Tumkur district.

According to witnesses, the bus was overcrowded and mostly students were travelling in it.
