Changes in the weather have started to appear in Jharkhand on Tuesday as the Cyclone Yaas has hit West Bengal and odisha . The sky has been cloudy since morning. The area of Chaibasa has been raining since morning. The sky is cloudy in Palamu, Khunti, Seraikela and other districts. According to meteorologists, heavy rainfall is expected in all the districts on 26 and 27 May. The Minister of Health and Disaster Management of Jharkhand, Banna Gupta, has tweeted that in view of the cyclone Yaas, the Secretary of the Disaster Management Department has been instructed to take special measures in the entire state including East Singhbhum to ensure the electricity supply, drinking water supply and other things during 26 to 28 May to protect life and property.
The meteorological department has said in its forecast that the effect of low pressure and super cyclone activity in the Bay of Bengal will begin to appear in Jharkhand on Tuesday. It is expected to be more effective on May 26 and 27. Heavy rains may occur in all districts. In view of the danger of Super Cyclone Yaas in Jharkhand, all districts have been alerted about the safety of life and property. Five districts of the state, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Khunti and Bokaro will be affected by cyclonic storm Yaas as per the weather experts . In East Singhbhum, three NDRF teams have been deployed . Its effect is beginning to be seen in many areas of the state. Helpline numbers have been issued in East Singhbhum.
Seraikela-Kharsawan DC Arwa Rajkamal held a meeting of the Disaster Management Committee to deal with cyclone Yaas. In the meeting, DC also gave many necessary guidelines for the protection against cyclonic storms. DC Rajkamal informed that the NDRF team from Patna will be deployed for the cyclonic storm. One team will be stationed in Gamharia and the other team in Seraikela. In case of emergency, the team will reach out and conduct a rescue operation. In the meeting, DC obtained information about the preparations made by the Electricity Department, Forest Department, Municipal Body and other related departments for the prevention of cyclonic storms and instructed officials to remain in alert mode. Meanwhile the Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert in Dhanbad.
In view of the danger of cyclonic storm , the Railways has canceled many trains as a precautionary measure . The operations of 18 special trains including Howrah Bhopal Special Train, Howrah Jabalpur Special Train and Jabalpur Howrah Special Train have been canceled till further orders.
