Heavy monsoon showers battered Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday, inundating roads, triggering massive traffic snarls and disrupting normal life, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) placed the national capital under a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.According to agency reports, from the early hours of the morning, relentless rain led to widespread waterlogging across several parts of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr, leaving key roads submerged and slowing traffic to a crawl. Office-goers and school commuters faced long delays as flooded stretches and reduced visibility hampered vehicular movement across the region.

The IMD cautioned that persistent rainfall could lead to further waterlogging in low-lying areas, temporary disruptions in transport services and slower traffic during peak hours. Residents have been advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins and avoid venturing out unless necessary during periods of intense rainfall. The fresh spell of monsoon rain has once again exposed the challenges posed by urban flooding in parts of the NCR, even as civic agencies continue efforts to keep roads motorable and ensure essential services remain unaffected.
