India registers 50,040 new Covid cases

India has registered 50,040 new Covid-19 cases and 1,258 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to health ministry, on Sunday, a total of 57,944 patients recovered during the same time. The top five states which registered maximum cases are Kerala with 12,118 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 9,812 cases, Tamil Nadu with 5,415 cases, Karnataka with 4,272 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 4,147 cases. India's test positivity rate (positive cases identified for every 100 tests) continues to decline. For the 20th straight day it is below the 5 per cent-mark at 2.82 per cent. The country's overall caseload now stands at 3.02 crore, while total fatalities are at 3.95 lakh. 

About 32.17 crore people have been administered vaccines so far under the nationwide vaccination drive launched in January.
