India's GDP growth in FY26 shows foundation of economy is strong: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the 7.7 per cent GDP growth for fiscal 2025-26 shows the foundation of India's economy was strong, and the country can manage itself amidst the ongoing global turmoil with the collective effort of its 140 crore citizens. He maintained that India is the fastest growing major economy in the world. Modi said India clocked 7.7 per cent GDP growth in the fiscal year 2025-26, while the expansion was 7.8 per cent in the January-March quarter.Modi affirmed his government worked to build capacity over the past 12 years to make India self-reliant in energy, and the ongoing global crisis has only highlighted this.

Modi on Friday inaugurated the new terminal building of NAMO Airport in Daman, a project aimed at strengthening air connectivity for the Union Territory and supporting its growing tourism and economic sectors.

The new airport terminal is expected to significantly improve access to Daman, which has traditionally relied on road links to major cities in Gujarat and Maharashtra. The airport project has been viewed as a major infrastructure milestone for Daman, which is seeking to expand its tourism sector and improve accessibility for investors and visitors.
