Govt announces Padma awards

The government on Monday announced a list of 119 people who were given the prestigious Padma awards. While seven people have been conferred the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, 10 people have been given Padma Bhushan.

One hundred twelve people have been awarded the Padma Shri, according to the Minister of Home Affairs.

Former Japan prime minister Shinzo Abe, noted singer late SP Balasubramaniam and Islamic scholar Maulana Wahiduddin Khan are the recipients of the Padma Vibhushan.
