Gadkari warns of World War III amid global conflicts

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed serious concerns over escalating global conflicts, warning that the world could be on the brink of a third World War. Citing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and the volatile situation between Iran and Israel, the senior BJP leader said that the intensifying geopolitical strife, coupled with the "authoritarianism and dictatorship" of global superpowers, is pushing humanity toward an unprecedented crisis.“There is an atmosphere of conflict going on across the world amid the war between Israel and Iran as well as Russia and Ukraine. The situation is such that it could push the world into another World War anytime,” Gadkari said, speaking at the launch of the book Beyond Borders in Nagpur on Sunday.Calling for global introspection, Gadkari emphasised that values like harmony, coordination, and love are vanishing in the face of increasing autocracy among major world powers."The dictatorship and authoritarianism of superpowers are becoming a threat to peace and human survival," he noted.

The veteran politician underscored the importance of India’s spiritual heritage, referencing the teachings of Lord Gautam Buddha, who spread the message of truth, non-violence, and peace. Gadkari urged global leaders to revisit these values and called for a comprehensive review of current international affairs to shape a peaceful global policy framework.
Raising alarm over modern warfare, Gadkari said rapid technological advancements have transformed the nature of conflict. “The dimensions of warfare have changed. With the increasing use of missiles and drones, the relevance of tanks and many types of aircraft is reducing,” he explained, warning that the new methods of warfare are making it increasingly difficult to protect civilian lives.“Missiles are now often targeted at civilian settlements. This has created a serious humanitarian issue. There is a pressing need to discuss and address these dangers on a global level,” he added.
