President Ram Nath Kovind has said India has braved the pandemic and natural calamities and is serving humanity in the time of global crisis. He said the new cases of COVID19 are declining in the country due to the timely decision by govt which saved million of lives. The President said India showed scientific excellence, became Aatmanirbhar. Addressing members of both Houses of Parliament on Friday, He added that new agriculture laws will empower the farmers.
Kovind said, “We implemented the Swaminathan Commission report on MSP. We are focussing on micro irrigation.” He said, “The government has implemented three farmer's bills after proper consultation seven month back. This is going to benefit 10 crore small farmers. Many political parties supported these views in the past. These bills were debated properly in the Parliament, but have now been put on hold after a Supreme Court decision.” The President also condemned as "very unfortunate" the violence during the Republic Day tractor rally by farmers in Delhi. President Kovind said Constitution provides freedom of expression. And the Constitution also teaches us to follow law and rules.
President Kovind said, “It is a matter of pride that India is running the biggest vaccination programme in the world. Both vaccines of this programme are made in India. In this crisis, India shouldered its responsibility towards mankind and provided lakhs of doses of vaccines to several nations.” President Kovind said, “In this fight against the pandemic, we lost many citizens. Former President Pranab Mukherjee passed away in this Covid-19 period. Six MPs left us untimely due to Covid. I pay my tributes to all of them.”A total of 19 opposition parties are boycotting the President’s address in protest against the Modi government’s handling of the farmers’ protest, economic crisis, job losses and other issues.
