Evacuees from Afghanistan left ITBP camp

After completing 14 days of requisite quarantine at Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Centre, Chhawla Camp in New Delhi, 35 evacuees from Afghanistan on Thursday were given departure from the facility. The group includes 24 Indians and 11 citizens from Nepal. With this, a total of 113 persons who were at the ITBP facility for institutional quarantine are now out of the centre. On 7th September, 2021, 78 persons were released from this ITBP quarantine facility including 53 Afghan nationals. All were tested with Covid19 negative in the RTPCR tests conducted by the ITBP facility during the quarantine period. 
The group reached the ITBP Quarantine Facility from the IGI Airport, New Delhi on 26 August, 2021 after being airlifted from Afghanistan.  All facilities for evacuees were free of cost. Apart from fooding and lodging, facilities of entertainment, indoor games, wi-fi and canteen etc were provided. Yoga and stress counseling sessions are also organized by the stress counsellors of the ITBP during the Quarantine period here.
The ITBP Quarantine facility at Chhawla Camp, New Delhi is credited to have established the first ever 1,000 bedded quarantine centre of the Nation which had quarantined more than 1200 persons including 42 nationals from 8 countries (Bangladesh, China, Myanmar, Maldives, US, South Africa, Madagascar, and Afghanistan)- evacuated from various parts of the globe; more specifically from Wuhan, China and Milan, Italy from January to May, 2020.
