BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda has said that the AIIMS at Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh would be made fully functional within next six months. He said, people of Himachal Pradesh, as well as entire region, would get highly specialised facilities within the State. Mr Nadda was addressing the felicitation ceremony of Covid Vaccination Workers at Bilaspur on Sunday on the historic occasion of achieving 100 per cent vaccination of targeted eligible population of the State. The BJP President said that the setting up of AIIMS outside Delhi was a vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as first AIIMS was established in Delhi way back in 1960. He added that as many as 22 AIIMS were coming up in the entire country and all this was made possible by the Prime Minister. He said that Himachal Pradesh has got a 500 crore rupees Satellite centre of PGI Chandigarh at Una.
-Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju has said, the Centre is taking various measures to simplify the justice delivery system in the country. He was addressing a one-day legal-cum-medical literacy camp organized by the district legal services authority in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand on Sunday. Rijiju said a large number of Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) has been appointed by his ministry to create necessary awareness among people so that they can take advantage of free legal camps to get speedy justice. He said that there is a need to simplify the law in the country so that the common person can also understand the legal documents easily.
-Nagaland government has set up a five members Special Investigation Team to investigate the December 4 firing incident that took place in the area between Tiru and Oting village under Mon district involving security forces in which 13 civilians were killed and several others injured. The SIT will conduct the investigation under the overall supervision of ADGP( Law and Order), Sandeep M Tamgadge. The 5 members include IGP(R), CIO Limasunep Jamir,DIG (CID) Ms. Roopa M, SP (Crime) Manoj Kumar, SP Kilang Walling and Deputy Commandant, 15 NAP IR, Relo Aye. The order stated that the investigation should be completed within one month from the date of registration.
-In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the higher reaches have received fresh snowfall on Sunday while rains lashed the plains ending the dry spell and resulting in the improvement in the minimum temperatures. The famous tourist destinations of Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Kupwara, and Gurez recorded light to moderate snowfall while the plain areas of the valley were lashed by rains. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature rose across Kashmir and settled above the freezing point at most places of the valley on Saturday night. Srinagar recorded a low of 0.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday night - up from minus 0.7 degrees Celsius, the previous night. Pahalgam, which serves as the base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded a low of 2.7 degrees Celsius, up from minus 2 degrees Celsius 24 hours earlier. Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius and was the only place in the valley where the mercury stayed below the freezing point.
-Finance Ministry has said that more than three crore Income Tax Returns have been filed on the new e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. The number of ITRs filed per day is over four lakh and increasing every day. The Income Tax Department has urged all taxpayers to view their Form 26 AS and Annual Information Statement through the e-filing portal to verify the accuracy of the TDS and Tax Payments and avail of pre-filling of ITRs. The process of e-verification through Aadhaar OTP and other methods is important for the Department to commence processing of the ITR and to issue refunds. The Ministry said, it is encouraging to note that two crores 69 lakh returns have been e-verified, out of which more than two crores 28 lakh are through Aadhaar based OTP. The Income Tax Department has been issuing reminders to taxpayers through emails, SMS and media campaigns encouraging taxpayers to file their Income Tax Returns without further delay. The department has requested all the taxpayers who are yet to file their Income Tax returns for 2021-22 to file their returns at the earliest to avoid the last-minute rush.
