In the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, all the necessary preparations have been made for the Fifth of the Seven-Phase polling of Assembly Elections on Sunday. The polling will be conducted from 7.00 A.M. to 6.00 P.MThe Fifth Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted in 61 Assembly Constituencies including 13 constituencies reserved for the Scheduled Castes from 12 districts. These districts include Shravasti, Bahraich, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Amethi (Chatrapati Sahuji Mahraj Nagar), Raebareilly, Sultanpur, Gonda, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Prayagraj and Chitrakoot district.The electoral battle scenario in the Fifth Phase of Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh indicates that there are total 692 candidates including 90 women in fray for 61 Assembly seats. Maximum 25 candidates are vying for Pratappur seat while minimum seven candidates each are contesting for seven seats including Milkipur, Payagpur, Barabanki, Zaidpur, Haidergarh, Sadar and Kadipur seat. The total number of eligible electors for this phase is 2.25 crore including 1.20 crore male, 1.05 crore female and 1,727 third gender voters. In all, 25,995 Polling Stations have been set up in the concerned constituencies for their convenience.
-The elections campaigning has concluded in Manipur on Saturday evening and silence period has commenced for the first phase election. The voting for the first phase polls for the thirty-eight assembly constituencies of five electoral district will be held on Monday. Political parties has mounted heavy campaigning in the last day of campaign to woo the voters. Meanwhile, the polling officials and security personnel who have been assigned for the polling stations situated at far-flung areas has already been dispatched for polls duty. With the commencement of silence period, the hectic political campaigning for the first phase polls in Manipur has came to end. Now the election officials has prepared to set up the polling stations including model polling stations in the thirty-eight assemblies constituencies in Manipur. More than twelve lakh nine thousand voters including one hundred and seventy five transgender voters is going to decide the fate of one hundred seventy-three candidates. These include eighteen Independent candidates and fifteen woman candidates which voting will be held on Monday. Voting will be held in one thousand seven hundred twenty-four polling stations including three auxiliary polling stations. More than three hundred companies of Para Military forces have been deployed to conduct the voting free and fair manners. In the first phase polls, BJP has field its candidates in all thirty-eight assembly constituencies while Opposition party Congress filed 35 candidates. Voting will be held from 7.00 AM to 4.00 PM. Twenty-eight candidates of Janata Dal (United) and twenty-seven candidates of NPP are also in the fray. Meanwhile, polling officials and security personnel of the polling stations situated at far flung assembly constituencies including Tipaimukh (ST) and Thanlon (ST) has been dispersed for polls duty yesterday. Some polling officials teams also left district headquarters today for polls duty.
-Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane has said that setting up of Coir Board Regional office at Kankavali in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra will help the region become prosperous like Kerala and Tamil Nadu. He said that the industry will generate employment for local youths. The Minister inaugurated Coir Board Regional Office at Kankavali. Addressing the inaugural event, the Union Minister said that despite large coastal zone and coconut plantations, Konkan has not developed the coir industry. With the opening of this regional office, Coir Board will bring more programmes to the region.
-Kerala Government will provide domestic air tickets to students returning to the State on evacuation from Ukraine. Making this announcement, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, Government has taken measures to collect information beforehand about the Keralites reaching cities like Delhi and Mumbai by evacuation flights from Ukraine. The arrangement is being made by the Resident Commissioner and the Non-Resident Keralites Affairs- NORKA- officials.
-Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur inaugurated the first-ever Ice Wall Climbing Competition-2022, at Ganglas in Leh. North West Frontier of Indo Tibetan Border Police, ITBP, has organized the Two-Day competition. Apart from the ITBF, Ladakh Police, Ladakh Mountain Guide Association, Students and a team from Nubra, nearly 100 participants from various units of North West Frontier ITBP are participating in the competition. Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor said the union territory administration is soon establishing Winter Sports Academies in Drass and Zanskar of Kargil to promote ice based sports. He said, there are several locations like Pangong in Ladakh, to promote the winter sporting activities. He said, the administration is creating infrastructure suitable to promote winter tourism and improving road and air connectivity. Mr.Mathur lauded the services of ITBP as the frontline defence, in one of toughest terrains in the world in extreme weather conditions.
-Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that India's rise to power is not to scare anyone but for the welfare of the whole world. Speaking at the 98th Convocation of the Delhi University in New Delhi on Saturday, Singh said that India aspires to be Jagat Guru again and the dream is to make the country powerful, rich, and also knowledgeable. Highlighting the government’s effort to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem for the development of youth, Singh noted that there was no start-up ecosystem in the country earlier but the scenario has changed rapidly in the last seven years. Defence Minister informed that there were only 500 start-ups in country in 2014 and the number has gone up to sixty thousand this year. Terming youth as the biggest source and catalyst of change in any country, he said youth is the greatest power the country has and its future depends on the youth power. Stressing on innovation, invention and ideas, he urged the youth to come forward with a clear objective to take the leadership role to innovate, invent and establish new companies and research establishment in the country.
